Wii Wireless IR Bar

The wireless sensor bars are great! We bought this one as part of a larger starter kit, I was really happy with how easy it was to start using. However after 3 months of normal use (and many many AA batteries) it stopped working and you could no longer get the sensor to recognize movement of the Wii remote, first in games and then intermittently on the Wii menu.

I am not sure if this was a quality issue related to our sensor bar, but I think I will try another brand.Buy Wii Wireless IR Bar!

Star Trek: Conquest

I purchased this for my brother-in-law. He is a HUGE Star Trek fan. I was hesitant to buy it because of the mediocre reviews. However, he LOVED it! He practically sat in front of the TV playing this game for the remainder of his visit. His kids and my kids sometimes played along. They discussed strategy and shared advice/ideas. I don't know why this game has received some less-than-stellar reviews. I also don't know why it is rated E-10. There is no blood or graphic violence that I saw. You just blow up space ships - and they're not very "real" looking space ships at that. I recommend this game for Star Trek fans (Trekies?). My brother-in-law could barely put the remote down to have conversation with other adults!Buy Star Trek: Conquest!

Universal Dance Pad

This is one of the thin (non-padded) types of pads. I bought it knowing that these pads tend to 'wander' around the room when you're using them, but I planned on strapping it to a board and adding my own padding materials, so that was fine.

I really like this pad a lot. It's extremely responsive and sensitive; I didn't end up with unearned boo's as I have with some less-responsive pads.

The other great thing is, I can use it on my PS2 and then immediately unplug it and plug it into my PC.

Because it's universal, it isn't limited to the four directions, 2 buttons, and start/select -- it also has the bottom left/right buttons, which is helpful in games (such as those on the PC game StepMania) that can use those extra buttons (the PS2 just ignores them).

I did try it out to make sure it worked, before I went through the trouble to strap it to a board, and found that it doesn't wander as much as some other pads do; the tacky rubber-like gripping material on the bottom is pretty decent. Still, I highly recommend buying a piece of pegboard from a hardware box store, cut it to the right size, and duct-taping the pad to it. It makes a huge difference.Buy Universal Dance Pad!

Wii/PS3/PS2/PC Perfect Sound Wireless Karaoke Microphones

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! DO NOT PURCHASE!
I bought this microphone pair to use with Rock Band 2 and Sing Star on my PS3.
The sound quality is HORRIBLE, both with and without the cord.

There is a constant, loud buzzing sound, and your voice sounds like you are speaking through a busted intercom speaker. I tried both microphones, in both ports, in various locations, from various distances, both with the cable and without it. Nothing would get rid of the horrible sound.

The microphones feel pretty solid, but the wireless antenna loosely fits into the end of the mic. It BARELY stays in, and it would not stand up to any moderately-hard "rocking" at your next party.
Another disappointing bit is that the microphone takes a AA battery, and the receiver takes a AA battery (even though it is plugged directly into the USB dongle port!)
Having both microphones coming out of a single USB port is useful, but why does there have to be a separate piece plugging into the dongle, wasting another AA battery?

I can't speak to it's usefulness with the Wii, because I don't have any singing games. (And I don't have a PS2.)

Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots

3 days ago I rented this game from Blockbuster.Then the two days I played it,I did not like it at all.The plot is basicly kinda the same plot as Looney tunes acme arsenal.The evil guy from Jimmy Neutron is trying to kill the nicktoons by building toybots.And the nicktoons are trying to stop him.The gears that apear in some of the levels kill you if you touch them.And for health,you won't know when you are going to die beacause you have no lifebar in this entire game.So for this game,I have 2 things to tell you.Do not buy this game and do not rent this game.Just use your money to buy or rent something else.Thanks for reading.Buy Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots!

Pimp My Ride

A friend had mentioned this game so I decided to buy a copy for myself. The owner's manual had very limited information, and the online directions for how to play were terrible. The voices that direct you to perform things are in unintelligible mumbling, and I couldn't figure out how to progress further through the game beyond the crashing into things aspect, which became boring in the first few minutes. I just bought for my "4 years old" son and I can't believe he has been playing by himself for several hours already. The game is not boring, not noisy and not violent. I would say this game is for kids between 4 to 12 years old. It's worth buying. A great game.Buy Ratatouille!

Rockstar Presents Table Tennis

For the life of me, I could not get this game to work properly for me. I couldn't even get past the training sessions because the controls just don't seem to work in standard mode. The only way I got any enjoyment from the game was using the nunchuck, which isn't terrible, but the game should work as-in, out of the box. The cheap tennis game in WiiSports worked 10 times better and it was just a throwaway game. The graphics for this game are very good and it seems it could be a great game, but when you make a certain motion with the Wii controller, the on-screen character just doesn't match up, which is highly frustrating.

I would rather have a game with lame graphics that actually works well and plays well and is fun, then a great looking game that you can't play with any accuracy.Buy Rockstar Presents Table Tennis!

Hotel for Dogs

Being a four dog family it sometime feels like "Hotel for Dogs" at home. Seeing this in the theater the week before it seemed like an omen spying it on the shelf locally (unaware it was even available). My seven and 4 year old(s) couldn't get home quick enough to play. Build challenges can be completed first play experience (1 hour plus). Keeping the dogs happy, healthy, fed and the rooms clean allows the kids to go rescue more dogs. Dogs will display an icon above their body indicating need (play, food, etc.)
My opinion is this game is cute, and will be interesting for two weeks of play time, retired until dvd is released and played again briefly. Wii controls: cursor to choose dog, "a" button to choose
function. No physical activity like walking the dog or throw/fetch you might expect with wii.

Wii Powerboard

I decided to buy a Wii Keyboard to add another internet station in my home. We have a tendency to want to access the web at the same time here.

So I purchased the Powerboard. It's not what it's cracked up to be...

The number lock button has a nasty habit of turning itself on, even before you press any keys!

There is no "zoom in", "zoom out" or "OK" button, so one has to use the wiimote too often, which is a weak point of using the opera browser in the first place.

It takes longer to navigate on the opera browser than what you're used to with a PC. By the time you're able to find and click the next text using the wiimote, the Powerboard sometimes goes asleep or loses its connection within seconds if you scoot the Powerboard to the side when you're fumbling with the wiimote. When you do manage to reconnect, the number lock button immediately does it's little trick again.


In a perfect world, there would be a keyboard with a fingerpad mouse to use rather then the wiimote, even if only for the internet.

Oh...

Did I mention the number lock likes to turn on by itself? ;-)Buy Wii Powerboard!

AMF Bowling World Lanes

Just got this game, and thought it would be nice to have a "real" bowling game. Big mistake. The only nice things about this game were different bowling venues and plenty of different balls to choose from.

- Gameplay is awful, it's impossible to hook the ball
- The characters are annoying with the same like six catch phrases repeated Over and Over and Over again
- The mini games are ridiculous, I was able to get them but it wasn't a matter of any sort of skill throwing it, and the game where you are supposed to hook the ball is straight impossible
- Graphics are terrible

Shrek's Carnival Craze

I bought this as my first Wii game and I was SOOOO disappointed the graphics are horrible. It looks like an old school Atari game. It's also not sensitive enough so you would have to have an unlimited amount of time to master the movements just to make it interesting enough to play.
